Mornings and Why I Actually Enjoy Them
I’ll be honest here. I always hated mornings.
I used to sleep in as late as I could, whenever I had the chance. There were days where I’d stay in bed until 3pm, and finally start my day an hour after getting out of bed.
Obviously now I have a 9-5 job so I can’t exactly do that anymore, but I’m totally okay with that. I actually naturally wake up around 6AM nowadays, and it’s been great. It was obviously an adjustment in the beginning, but I’ve gotten used to it now and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
For starters, I love breakfast. If I have the time, I’ll make myself a huge meal which will not only satisfy me in the moment, but keep me satisfied and full for longer. Lately I prefer a bowl of oatmeal with peanut butter and whatever fruit I have, but I also love a good english muffin with herbs and a side of home fries.
Not only do I love breakfast, but I also enjoy coffee. I drink it most days, and mainly for the taste, and not because I need it. I just use my Ikea french press and whatever Starbucks blend I have at the time.
I like to take things slow in the morning and give myself the chance to really wake up. I hate feeling rushed, so I like to give myself a couple hours to eat and get ready before work. Mornings for me are a peaceful time, where I can embrace the silence and pamper myself a little bit before I take on the day.
Are you a morning person, or would you say you’re more of a night owl? Whichever you are, it doesn’t really matter, just as long as you take the time to treat yourself a little bit every day, even if it means waking up a little earlier.
