Self Love And Why It’s so Important to Treat Yourself With Kindness

You are the only person who will always be there for you. The sooner you realize this, the sooner you can work on building yourself up.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a difficult relationship with myself. I can never make up my mind and I always feel so conflicted whenever I think about myself as a whole. Deep down I know that I’m an amazing person and I’ve got so much love and passion to give to the world, but sometimes it’s really hard to see that. It’s incredibly easy to get stuck in your brain and overthink every aspect of your life and yourself.

My body image issues have been more under control since moving on my own, but that doesn’t mean they don’t come back. I’m lucky enough to have people around my that adore me and are there to help, but sometimes they’re out of reach and I’m stuck by myself. And I know all too well how difficult it is to detach your mind from your body in difficult times, and I know how hard it is to love yourself when all you feel is this somber, dark cloud hanging above your head.

I still haven’t found the secret to loving yourself completely, but I’m trying my best. I try to remind myself of all the good I’m putting into this world, and the positive impact I can have on people. And realizing the negative impact that I can also have is a great motivator not to have that impact on people.

I obviously slip off the tracks way too often, especially once a month if you know what I mean. But it’s a matter of pushing through the pain and the puffy face and accepting it as a normal thing. Realize that it’s okay to feel down on yourself, but that you cannot stay in this position. Eventually you need to peel yourself off the ground and move on. It’s obviously easier said than done, but it definitely needs to be done at some point.

Self love is so much more than loving your appearance, or how you look; It’s much deeper than that. It is being able to tell yourself that everything will be okay, and that you are bigger than whatever is bringing you down. You have the strength to pull yourself through and you are beautiful from the inside out. You have a beautiful soul and can touch so many people with it. But most importantly, you need to touch yourself with your own amazing soul.
